1 - Breckinridge in Colorado
This is one of the better known resorts located in Colorado. Breckenridge totals 2,358 acres worth of land coverage and features 155 different trails. The longest trail on the mountain is known as Four O'clock, and it is 3.5 miles long. The resort actually has more than ten different peaks. 35 percent of the 155 trails featured at this resort are considered to be expert slopes, which is the largest slope difficulty percentage. 13 percent of the slopes hold the easiest designation as beginner trails.
2 - Aspen in Colorado
Located right in the midst of the rockies in beautiful Aspen, Colorado is the well regarded Aspen Mountain Ski Resort which sits on a grand sum of 673 acres worth of land, making it one of the smallest of all of the skiing resorts that you will find in the country. It utilizes both Aspen Mountain and Bell Mountain as well, with a total maximum elevation of 11,212ft.
3 - Killington in Vermont
This particular ski resort happens to be the largest one in the entire eastern part of the United States. Utilizing the second highest mountain in Vermont which is Killington Peak this ski resort sports more than 200 trails as well as 33 ski lifts that span across seven different mountains. 4 - Park City in Utah
This is a tourist destination that plays home to three different resorts in one, which are the Canyon Resort, the Deer Valley Resort and Park City Mountain Resort as well. The Park City Mountain Resort alone covers more than 3,300 acres of land and sports a total of 104 trails. The Canyons Resort is the largest of all three resorts, spanning a total of 9 mountains with 155 trails and more than 3,700 acres of land. Deer Valley Resort has recently undergone a $9 million dollar renovation that has added 200 new acres of land with 9 brand new slopes.
5 - Lake Tahoe in Nevada and California
Located on the border of Nevada and California, the Heavenly Mountain Resort can be found nestled in the Lake Tahoe area, featuring 4,800 acres and 95 different slopes. The total elevation here is 10,067 and this resort makes ample use of the highest peak in Lake Tahoe as the largest of all ski resorts in California.
