Tips for Spring Skiing
January 10th, 2010 | Skiing, Tips and Tricks
During the spring skiing season, every single skier is going to need to take a few additional steps and precautions in order to ensure that they can have a ski trip that is pleasant as well as safe. You are going to need to consider a couple of different things including changing conditions of the snow, stronger level of sunshine, and warmer climate temperatures. The following tips are going to be extremely useful at helping to make sure that your spring skiing season is the best that it possibly can be.
Always make sure that you are wearing sunscreen. This is an absolute undeniable must when it comes to skiing during the spring time. When all of your skin has been completely covered up for the entire winter, the bright sun in the spring is going to make it really easy for you to become burned. Make sure that all of the uncovered parts of your skin are coated in sunscreen protection in order to keep you safe.
Keep yourself hydrated. During the spring skiing season, the temperatures are capable of rising, and they make drinking water even more important than ever. This is especially true if you are skiing at higher altitudes than what you are used to, so make sure that you are drinking plenty of water at all times.
Change your stance in order to accommodate for the spring snow. When you are skiing in the snow in the spring, you are going to want to ski more solidly. This can be achieved by keeping an even and balanced weight on both of your feet. You may want to consider putting some money into skiing lessons to make sure that you are able to perfect your stance so that you can ski properly on the spring snow. The lesson will teach you things that you can take with you during every spring ski in the future.
Make sure that you are always wearing your sunglasses or your goggles. The bring sun in the spring is definitely going to call for good protection of your eyes. Make sure that you are always protecting your eyes by wearing the proper goggles or sunglasses. If you do not have ski goggles, try athletic sunglasses instead to keep your eyes protected and give you better vision even in the bright light.
Make sure that you are wearing the right gear. During the warmer spring temperatures, you can overheat quite easily if you are still wearing that old winter parka. Instead, you should make sure that you have a much lighter jacket or fleece to handle the really sunny days. Light, waterproof style jackets are perfect for days where its warm but wet.
