Just because you are visiting a ski resort, then that does not mean that you can only ski. Here are some things that you may want to consider doing and enjoying while visiting a ski resort when you are not on the slopes in your skis.
- Go shopping! There is generally a great deal of shopping to be had when it comes to ski resorts, so don't be afraid to spend a few hours hitting the town and taking in everything that the shops have to offer you. There are plenty of unique shops to be found at and around most ski resorts.
- Give Snowmobiling a chance. Just because you are not interested in skiing, that does not mean you have to completely forgo the idea of enjoying the snow. You can take a snowmobile out and enjoy everything that the weather and the terrain has to offer without having to strap on any skis.
- Try a tour by helicopter. Get a true bird's eye view of everything that your ski resort has to offer by opting for a helicopter tour. Some tours will take you around the mountain while others will take you all over town for a truly unique experience.
- Try cruising along on a paddlewheeler. This is a unique experience when you can find them. Look for a ski resort that offers paddle wheeler cruising and there is no way you will be sorry.
- Try visiting a day spa. Yes, there are plenty of unique day spa opportunities to take advantage of. Why not come in from the cold and enjoy a nice, warm and inviting experience in a spa where you are pampered and taken care of? You can leave the skiing to your family and concentrate on a little bit of pampering for your own self instead.
- Check out the local art. Most ski towns also have a lot of unique museums and art galleries that you should absolutely partake of while you can. The ski season is not all about skiing - It's about culture, so soak some up!
- Enjoy a sleigh ride, or go dog sledding. There are two unique opportunities for enjoying what the mountain has to offer without having to strap any skis on. If you are looking for a way to enjoy the terrain and the great outdoors but you don't want to ski, then bundle up for a unique ride by sleigh, or go dog sledding with someone you enjoy being around for the best possible results.
- Go hiking or snowshoeing. These are unique ways to enjoy the great outdoors without having skis strapped to your feet. You can hike the mountain and enjoy the back country where there are no skiers trying to run you down!
