One of the best things about skiing is that every year, new products come out that are designed to support you in your quest to become a better ski, ski faster and have a lot of fun. This year, there are quite a few new entries in the field, so we thought we would round up the best of the best for you and put them all right here.
Skis for Women
Women tend to get a little forgotten when it comes to skis, but luckily that is changing. This year, our favorite is the Raisin Hell from Atomic. This is a ski that is designed to make you faster and we found that it could handle just about any kind of terrain. This is the perfect ski for the weekender or for those just learning the ropes. It’s very easy to maneuver and overall, it came out far in the lead in the skis we tested.
Skis for Beginners
It’s tough to find a ski that is perfect for beginners, but this year, the Sabre from K2 breaks away from the pack. It may not be the fastest ski in the world, or the prettiest, or even the most capable, but it is a solid ski that will give you the foundation you need to learn quickly. We found it easy to handle, and most importantly, very forgiving. This is the ideal ski for anyone that is just starting out and the price tag makes it incredibly affordable.
Skis for Penny Pinchers
A good pair of skis can easily set you back at least a grand, but there are some good budget models out there. By far our favorite this year was the Volkl Tigershark 8 foot ski. You may not be paying much for this ski, but you’ll be getting a lot of performance. It easily competes with skis that are much more expensive and no one will ever have to know just how much money you saved.
Skis for All Purpose Use
No one wants to have to buy five different pairs of skis just to have a little fun, but commonly, all purpose skis tend to be a little lacking. Elan came out with a great ski this year that breaks that mold. The new Magfire 82 XTi is the perfect ski for those that like to change it up – without having to change their skis. It’s fast, it’s maneuverable and it can handle just about anything you do decide to do. By far, one of our favorite skis this season.
Best Overall Design and Function
This year, the Hot Rod Helldiver from Nordica took the cake when it comes to an awesome design and even better performance. This sharp looking ski will more than get the job done on the trails and it’s capable of handling some super fast skiing. It’s easy to see why so many pros choose Nordica, especially when they want to look great.
