About the Resort:
This is a great little resort that is a bit tucked away off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. Very friendly for beginners and children, there is a fun snow play area where kids can build snowmen and even sledding. The resort is family owned and operated and they offer a level of service that is unmatched by the larger resorts. We highly enjoyed our stay here and look forward to returning.
What You Need to Know:
The opening day is December 12th, and the season goes through the 13th of April. With a total of 14 trails served by 2 lifts, it is surprisingly uncrowded and we found that everything moved quite smoothly. This may just be one of the best kept secrets in the Tahoe area, and there are plenty of reasons to consider staying here.
The lodge is very well appointed and the food was terrific. We enjoyed the high quality of all of the service and found that everyone was very friendly and the management gives you the feeling that they really care about the resort. The trails are immaculate and the resort relies entirely on natural snow fall, making none of their own snow.
Tips for Beginners:
With their special beginner area and the great instructors, this is probably one of the best places to learn how to ski in Tahoe. You'll want to stay away from Skip's Plunge, but there are many trails that are very suitable for beginners. This is one of the few resorts that devotes 40% of their space to beginners and lessons are provided throughout the day.
The terrain park is a great place to get started with your skiing efforts and overall, this is easily one of the best resorts we've ever been to. If you want to learn how to ski, or you need to find lessons for your children, this one should be at the top of your list.
