About the Resort:

Solitude Mountain Resort is more than just a place to ski - this is the perfect place to take a vacation. With a full service spa, some of the best powder in Utah and great prices, it's easy to see why so many people choose to make the trip here every year. We really enjoyed our time here at this resort and are already making plans to go back. This is a peaceful place and once you visit, you'll know why they named it Solitude.

What You Need to Know:

This area gets around 500 inches of snow every year, so adding snow is really only necessary during very dry years. The management keeps everything very well groomed on the more than 1200 acres that make up this resort. They have 64 trails, and numerous lifts that ferry people back and forth very quickly. Although this resort is extremely popular, we never felt crowded.

Snowboarders are more than welcome here, as are Nordic skiers. There are some great powder bowls that just beg for snowboards, and you'll also find plenty of downhill runs that are incredibly exciting. With a good mix of trails, there is more than enough space to really test your skills and have a lot of fun.

The season runs from mid-November through mid-April and the newly built terrain park has been a great addition that has drawn a lot of new visitors.

Tips for Beginners:

Most of the trails here feature pretty gentle slopes and they have done a great job of making sure that beginners aren't forgotten. You'll want to avoid the Honeycomb Canyon Area if you are just starting out but other than that, the other trails are very friendly.

They frequently hold workshops for beginners, and you'll be able to take advantage of some great lessons from world class pros during your stay at the resort. Lesson rates are very reasonable and you can get some discounts on gear as well. Snowboarding lessons are also provided, as well as traditional skiing techniques.
