Gap - This is essentially like a tabletop that does not have snow in the middle, or similar to a jump that has a ramp for taking off that is higher up than the table down below it. A gap is described as the distance or the space that exists between two different objects.
Gay Twist - This is a half-pipe fakie to a regular 360 spin ending in a grab.
Goofy Foot - This means to ride with the right foot ahead of the left rather than the other way around.
Grab - This means to grab the board with either one or both of the hands.
Grind - This means riding on an object such as a handrail or a ledge where only the trucks are making contact.
Haakon Flip - This is a half pipe trip that was named after a freestyle legend from Norway named Teje Haakonsen. The Haakon Flip is similar to a switch rodeo but it is performed on a half pipe.
Half Cab - This is the free-riding version of a Caballerial, where the snowboarder rotates a total of 180 degrees forward from fake from a straight jump.
Half Pipe - This is a snow structure consisting of opposing walls with a radial transition that are of the same height and the same size. Half pipes are used for snowboarders that want to catch air so that they can perform a variety of different tricks simply by traveling from wall to wall.
Hammer - This term refers to riding as hard as the rider possibly can.
Hand plant - A backside hand plant is a 180 degree hand plant where either both hands or just the rear hand is planted on the wall's lip, and the rotation is a backside rotation. A front side hand plant is the same thing, but the rotation is front side instead. Another type of hand plant is a layback hand plant, which involves the rotation being front side as well.
Handrails - These are what snowboarders slide on and grind on.
Heel Side Edge - This is the edge of the snowboard that is closest to the heels of the rider.
Helicoil - This is a metal cylinder that is threaded on the outside and used to tighten into the threads on the inside in order to attach a screw. This is used for repairing stripped inserts and drilled holes in boards that were used in order to attach a binding.
Hit - This is another name for a jump.
Ho Ho - This is a general term that is given to any hand plant that involves both hands.
Horizontal Lamination - This describes layers that are bonded together on top of one another in order to create a strong material using materials that would otherwise be weak. Horizontal lamination is used to make a full deck material, or just the core within a snowboard's construction.
