Half Cab - This is the free riding equivalent of the Caballerial, where the rider performs a 180 off of a straight jump to go from fakie into normal.
Half Pipe - In snowboarding this is a structure that is built out of snow consisting of two opposing walls that are the same size and height. Riders go back and forth between the two walls to build up speed to be able to perform tricks and catch higher air.
Hammer - This term refers to a rider pushing themselves as hard as they are able.
Hand plant (Backside) - A half pipe trick where the ride plants either the rear or both hands and the rider makes a 180 to backside.
Hand plant (Front side) - A half pipe trick where the rider plants their front hand and the rider makes a 180 to front side.
Hand plant (Layback) - A half pipe trick where the rider plants their rear hand and the rider makes a 180 to front side.
Handrails - Either actual handrails or course elements that resemble handrails that a rider can grind on or slide on.
Heel side Edge - The edge of a snowboard that is nearest to the heels of the rider.
Heli coil - This is a hollow metal cylinder that is threaded on both the inside and outside. The inner thread allows it to hold onto a screw and the outer thread allows it to be used to repair stripped out threads or to fill in drilled holes.
Hit - A jump can also be referred to as a hit in certain circumstances.
Ho Ho - This is a term used to cover any hand plant that uses two hands.
Horizontal Lamination - This is described as being a construction technique where thin layers of a material, often wood as an example, are stacked up and fused together which forms a stronger finished product. In snowboards materials made by this process can form the core of the deck, or even the entire deck.
Hucker - This is someone who does not land on their feet after throwing themselves erratically into the air.
Iguana Air - This is a trick where the rider reaches out to grab the toe edge of the board with their rear hand near the tail of the board.
Indy Air - The proper indy air is done from a backside jump, the rider reaches out and grabs the toe edge of the board in between the two binds with their rear hand and the front leg is boned. This term is also used to describe where the grab is made.
Insert - A small, hollow cylinder that is has threading located on the inner surface that provides reinforcement where the screws that fasten the bindings to the snowboard are attached.
