Snowboarding 101 – Carrying the Snowboard
January 16th, 2010 | Snow, Snowboarding, Tips and Tricks
Another one of the most important things that you can learn how to do when it comes to perfecting the art of snowboarding is to know how to carry your snowboard, and there are several different methods that you can use to carry your snowboard when you are going from point A to point B on the mountain. One important thing that you are going to need to remember is to keep watch for other objects and other people that you may accidently hit with your board while you are traveling. Another important tip is for you to avoid accidently dropping your snowboard on the slopes, unless you really want to chase after your board. In this article we are going to be talking about several different ways that you can carry your board.
The most common way to carry your snowboard is simply to carry it as if it were a book. Carry the snowboard underneath one of your arms with your hand holding onto the middle of the board to lend stability. In this way, you will have your snowboard pointing in the exact same direction that you are facing.
Another way that you can carry you snowboard is to rest it against your back, reaching with both hands to hold it there. This is a less tiring method of carrying your snowboard because you will be using both of your hands rather than just a single hand to carry your snowboard. However, this method of carrying your snowboard is a bit of a challenge when you are walking uphill because sometimes it will seem as if the weight is dragging you down.
Another option that is available to you is for you to drag your snowboard along with you as you climb the slope by holding the leash or by wrapping it around your wrist. This is an especially convenient method of carrying your snowboard anytime where you are traveling a long distance and you have to bring your snowboard with you. Make sure that you are not bothering anybody else on the slope when you are allowing your board to drag behind you, however.
If there is any point in time where you have to leave your snowboard alone, one option for keeping it safe is going to be for you to use a lock. Some ski resorts will even provide snowboarding locks for certain kinds of boards, but it is still generally a better idea for you to bring your own. You may also share locks with friends or family members. If you decide that you want to leave your board behind, make sure that it cannot be easily spotted.
Generally the way that you carry your snowboard is going to be based on preferences and personal choices. No matter how you decide to carry your board, just make sure that you do not lose it or bother anyone else while you are on the slope.
