Where He Is Now -

Steven Nyman opened the 2008 skiing season with a real bang, taking a second place medal in the Birds of Prey downhill at Beaver Creek for his third podium at the World Cup. The remainder of the season was hampered significantly by issues relating to his back, and he was left sidelined for numerous skiing events including the famed Chamonix Kandahar downhill, which was won by his teammate Marco Sullivan. It turned out he had a bulging disc, and doctors ended up putting him in a trunk cast. Interesting and Inspirational Quotes -

"I think it's the fairest way of doing it, over two days. They had originally talked about just taking the two fastest guys from final training on Saturday. But over one day, you could have a bad day." - Steven Nyman

"He's happy. We're all happy. Medals? Screw medals. Nobody cares. A lot of people in America don't relate to this, but it's not about the medals. It's about the effort and hard work. We're all happy with what we did. Nobody is disappointed at all." - Steven Nyman

"To get the cast outfitted I basically had to be hung by my neck. The Dr. put this brace around my neck then I had to slip my arms through these sheep skin loops and he lifted me off the ground. I was suspended in the air for 15 minutes with my arms above my head and I could barely touch my toes to the ground," - Steven Nyman
