The Schweitzer Mountain Resort boasts having more than 2900 acres worth of gladed terrain and open bowls. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort received the #3 spot in Skiing Magazine's North American skiing resorts because they offer excellent tree skiing. The 2007 and 2008 ski season saw the installation of two new chairlifts. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort is located in the Selkirk Mountains in the panhandle of Idaho along the northwest Rocky Mountains.
What You Need to Know -
The Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers a Terrain Garden, which lets park users practice in an environment that is not intimidating until they can step up to the Stomping Grounds which is an exciting terrain park where the sky is the limiting. There are also numerous additional activities including snowshoeing, cross country skiing, snowmobile touring, cat skiing and a lot more. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers 300" or more of annual snow, which means no artificial snow needs to be created. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort is comprised of more than 2,900 acres of snow covered terrain. The Schweitzer Mountain Resort is comprised of 20 percent green, 40 percent blue, 35 percent black and 5 percent double diamond terrain, with 82 trails in total. The longest run is 6,864 feet and the toughest trail is the Little Blue Ridge Run.
Tips for Beginners -
Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers high quality demonstration packages for beginning skiers and snowboarders. Ski packages cost $45 dollars, which is the same cost for the snowboarding package. The Telemark package is $35 dollars, and there are also cross country packages for $20 dollars and Skate Ski packages for $23 dollars. The Snowsports School offers both personalized lessons and group lessons designed both for children and adults. There are also a number of specialty clinics each season, including Diva Days, Nordic, Telemark, Open Session and Nice Turns.
Fees -
The Schweitzer Mountain Resort offers both weekday lift tickets and weekend and holiday lift tickets. Half day lift tickets are always the same, at $50 dollars for adults and $40 dollars for seniors, no matter what the day is. Half days begin at 12:30pm. For full day tickets, adults can expect to pay $50 dollars for weekday tickets and $55 dollars for weekend and holiday lift tickets. Seniors on the other hand can expect to pay $45 dollars for both weekday and weekend or holiday lift tickets. Group rates are often made available, and more information can be found by calling the resort at (208) 263 9555.
Schweitzer Mountain Resort also offers Sunday Solution with $15 dollar afternoon lift tickets on any Sunday that is not a Holiday. Sunday-Friday season passes are offered for sale for $399 but only until October 31. Adult unlimited season passes cost $599. Junior season passes are only $199, and season passes for kids under 6 are only $29 dollars, but these prices only stand until October 31. College season passes go on sale between October 31 and November 30.
