About the Resort:
The resort is named after a coal-mining town that disappeared in the 1900's. This luxury resort offers a truly authentic western atmosphere and hospitality, whose small town roots leave the atmosphere anything but pretentious. Guests will be pleased with the opportunities to take in the sights of the mountains and Glenwood Village's offerings. The mountain offers many different levels of skiing possibilities to take advantage of. This will ensure that anyone of any experience level will enjoy themselves in some way or another. Glenwood Springs is also home to the largest hot spring pool of the world at the Fairy Caves. There is plenty in the Glenwood Springs area to do for recreation and for a variety of ethnic offerings, so you will never be bored.
What You Need to Know:
The Sunlight Mountain Resort covers more than 470 Acres of prime mountain real estate, offering lush forested areas and beautiful scenery from one end to the other. Over the course of the year, the mountain receives as many as 250 inches of fresh snow, with nice powders that last over the span of a few days or more. Only about 10 percent of the snow is artificially produced. The peak reaches nearly 9900 feet, with an overall vertical elevation of 2010 feet. Recently new trails were built for the enjoyment of a new black diamond run that goes by the name of Casanova Glade, as well as a new double black diamond run in the extreme area. This expands the resort's trail offering to a glorious 68 trails, with 20 percent green circle, 55 percent blue square, 20 percent black diamond and 5 percent double black diamond. The longest trail in the run is over thirteen thousand feet from end to end, and the Heathen Extreme is by far the most difficult.
