About the Resort -

The Mount Southington resort, which is open all day and night, provides trails for skiers and snowboarders of all age levels and experience levels as well. There are trails for the novice and there are trails for the expert rider as well. Mt. Southington is a ski resort that is intended to provide enjoyment for the whole family. For the beginners to the slopes there are training programs that are designed to teach the basics of skiing. There are also private lessons that are available for people of all skill levels that will allow them to take their game to the very next level. The resort also has flex tickets, which are responsible for allowing the guest to choose the four or eight hour block of time for the lift ticket rather being locked in to a specific time.

What You Need to Know -

The resort is open from 9 o'clock in the morning until 10 o'clock in the evening, every single day during the ski season. The season this year is slated to begin on December 8th of 2008. There are fourteen different trails that skiers and snowboarders of all experience levels and age groups can take advantage of, including 7 easy trails, 4 intermediate trails and 3 difficult trails which are intended for the more seasoned skiers and snowboarders. The resort has 100% snow making capacity across its entire 51 acres of skiing and snowboarding terrain. The peak has a total of 8 different ski lifts that are capable of providing rides for as many as 6,254 individuals every single hour. There are a number of different freestyle terrain spots for snowboarders to take advantage of in order to practice their skill.

Tips for Beginners -

For the beginner skier or snowboarder, there are a number of varying lessons that are available in order to begin learning how to ski and snowboard. There are absolute beginners courses, where newcomers are taught the sport beginning with the very basics. For younger skiers, there is a highly successful children's ski program, which is aimed at teaching younger guests on the basics of skiing. Then there is the wild things program, which is geared towards expanding that knowledge over the span of a four or eight week program.

Fees -

Adults can purchase a half day lift ticket for $44 dollars, or they can purchase a full day for $48 hours. Junior skiers can get their lift tickets for $12 dollars, regardless of half or full day. Equipment rentals are just $36 dollars for adults, for either skiing or snowboarding equipment. Junior skiers can enjoy a $24 dollar rental package, while junior snowboarders will have to pay $36 dollars. For $70 dollars, a person can get a one on one skiing or snowboarding lesson. The lesson will cover whatever your skill level, giving you the opportunity to increase your skill at any level. If you have a group, the cost can be reduce to fifty dollars a head.
