About the Resort:
This is a great family owned resort that is ideal for those that are looking for lessons on how to ski, as well as those that are already seasoned pros. We found this to be one of the most balanced ski resorts when it comes to catering to all types of skiers and the resort is definitely one of the nicest we’ve ever come across.
This is easily one of the best spots in Southern California for snowboarding and if you’re new to the sport, we highly recommend taking advantage of the lessons that are available.
What You Need to Know:
The region only gets about 150 inches of snow a year, but that doesn’t keep the management from keeping the trails nice. Considering that a lot of the snow is made, we were surprised at just how well groomed the runs were here. This is a nice big resort, with more than 400 acres of skiiable space. There are currently 28 trails that are served by four lifts, but we didn’t find that we ended up waiting too long for anything.
The resort opens for business in late November and stays open throughout April. This is a great place for families and the prices are definitely low considering the quality of the resort and the trails.
Tips for Beginners:
This resort has an entire area dedicated to beginners and they’ve done a great job of bringing in some world class instructors. Special discounts are available for those that need lessons and there are approximately 25% of the trails available for beginner use. Their snowboarding lessons, as we mentioned above, are also top notch.
If you’re planning on learning how to ski and will be in the Mt. Baldy area, we can’t think of a better place to get started.
