About the Resort:
This resort is located on what many believe to be the prettiest mountains in the world, Mount Shasta. This means that you’ll have access to some of the best skiing in the region, and more than enough room to test your skills. Whether you are a rank beginner or a seasoned pro, there is more than enough to do here to keep you busy. We found the resort to be definitely one of the nicest we have ever visited and look forward to returning soon.
What You Need to Know:
The season here opens a bit late, with the opening day on December 1st. However, it does run through the 9th of April, so you should have more than enough time to get in at least one trip to the resort in this period of time. There are a total of eight lifts, and even though the resort is very popular, we didn’t find that it was overcrowded, even during peak season. There are 31 trails here, spread out over 425 acres, and there are also some great terrain parks and halfpipes for snowboarders.
This resort is very open to snowboarding and you can even take lessons while you’re here. The terrain parks are a great place to start for beginners and all of the trails are patrolled on a regular basis for safety. Overall, this is easily one of the best resorts for skiing or snowboarding in the area.
Tips for Beginners:
Although most of the trails are for intermediate skiers, there are still plenty that are dedicated to beginners. We found them to be quite gentle in slope and they offer a great way to learn without being scared. Lessons are scheduled regularly throughout the day and the prices are very reasonable.
There are some terrific programs in place for children that want to learn how to ski and the resort offers cut rates as well as free ski passes for students, making it a great place to learn, no matter how old you are.
