About the Resort:
When you think of Colorado, Boulder and Denver are the first cities that come to mind, but if you’ve never been to Georgetown, you’re missing out. The Loveland area is awesome for skiing and we found this to easily be one of our favorite Colorado resorts. Stretching out over more than 1300 acres, this is a vast complex that has a lot to offer skiers of all disciplines and all skill levels.
The resort is about an hour away from Denver, and you’ll find plenty of other things to see and do here, surprisingly enough, after you’re done skiing. The accommodations were very nice and overall, we had a great time and can’t wait to go back.
What You Need to Know:
The season opens early here, in mid-October and runs all the way through May, so you’ll have more than enough time to indulge your passion for skiing – and this is definitely one of the best places to do it. It’s a huge resort and they move people quickly, so overcrowding is an issue. Although they make a minimum of snow, we found the trails to be well groomed at all times.
This is more of a skiers resort than snowboarders, but they do offer one terrain park that is fantastic. We were very impressed by their pricing and special offers, and had a great time during our stay. The resort is open from 9 to 4, Monday through Friday, but they do open a half hour earlier on the weekends so you can get some extra time in on the slopes.
Tips for Beginners:
This is a great resort for beginners and they really take care of you here. While only 17% of the trails are good for beginners, they do provide plenty of instruction as well as reduced pricing. The only trail you’re really going to want to avoid is called Over the Rainbow, and there are a few at the top that should only be attempted by experts.
The best part about this resort is their Free Pass policy. If you buy three lessons, you’ll get a free season pass for the rest of the year. Considering how much you’ll be saving, this is a terrific offer and one that was incredibly smart. The teachers here are great, especially with kids and we found them to be very patient and they definitely knew their stuff.
