During the snow season, it is especially important to keep your snowboard in top shape. However, you should be maintaining your snowboard all year long if you want to get the most out of it when the slopes are covered in fresh powder. Here are a few quick and vital tips that will help you keep your snowboard maintained so that it is ready to perform whenever you are.
1 - Right after every snowboarding session, you need to make sure to take the time to address any nicks or scratches on your board as quickly as possible. This is going to prevent you from getting any more damage on your snowboard, and it will also allow you to drastically increase the life span of your board. Repair kits are not very expensive, and you can usually pick them up either online or through your local snowboarding shop.
2 - Whenever it is possible for you to do so, take the time to sharpen the edges on your snowboard. Sharp edges on your snowboard will allow you to turn on a dime, and will allow you to be ready to handle any and all conditions, no matter how challenging. You can pick up a sharpening tool specifically designed for your snowboard at a board shop, or you can consult a professional to have the work done for you.
3 - If you want to clean off old wax and resurface your board before the snow season begins, heat your board up to get all the old wax off. You should put the time and effort necessary into refinishing your board in often. If your board is feeling sluggish, you should aim for hot waxing. If on the other hand you are looking for a general wax, could waxing can be used before each shred session. Waxing will make your snowboard a lot more effective on the snow, protecting the board from the friction that is generated when it makes contact with the snow.
4 - Make sure that you bring a towel with you each and every time that you snowboard. When you finish out your snowboarding session, you should make sure to wipe down your board completely as well as your bindings so that you can prevent any water damage, greatly extending the life of your snowboard in the process. If you keep your board dry over time, then it will last a whole lot longer than if you were never going to wipe it down.
These simple tips do not take a lot of time or effort, but they work wonders when it comes to maintaining the quality of your snowboard not only for the current snow season, but many snow seasons to come. Maintaining your board is a lot more cost effective than replacing your board every year, and does not take a lot of effort, but produces excellent results.
