About the Resort:
This is an ideal place for families and for those that are interested in skiing, but are looking for a beginner friendly environment. Homewood has been ranked in the highest ski resorts in the country on a consistent basis by past visitors and after one trip, you'll see why it is so popular. One of the best features of this mountain is the fact that it is completely protected from high winds, so you can ski in relative comfort all season long.
What You Need to Know:
There are 60 trails at Homewood and two terrain parks to test your skills. Snowboarders are welcome here and the staff even provides lessons for beginning snowboarders. The resort covers more than 1200 acres and everything is well spaced out without being too far apart. There are seven lifts and it's rare to end up waiting in line here.
The management keeps the trails well groomed and they have done a great job improving the mountain. More plans are in the works for future renovations, and it is easy to see why so many people return to this resort again and again. It's by far one of the nicest we've come across and they've done a good job of combining a down home atmosphere with some serious ski opportunities.
Tips for Beginners:
Don't let the fact that only 15% of the trails here are meant for beginners fool you, this is a very good place to learn how to ski. The instructors are some of the best in the industry and they are very good at helping you with the basics and learning some very solid technique that will provide you with a great foundation for future use.
The lesson rates are very reasonable and they've done a great job of providing some low cost packages that include lift tickets, ski rentals and the cost of lessons. We highly recommend checking out the terrain parks for some great snowboarding lessons and for a lot of fun.
