Fitting your Snowboard Boots

bootsOne of the most important factors in ensuring that you enjoy your time spend on the slopes is to have comfortable feet. Before you rent snowboard boots or buy your own, you need to make sure that they are fitting you properly. The difficulty here is practically non existent, making it vital that you ensure that your snowboard boots fit you properly before you hit the slopes for the first time.

First and foremost, you need to try the boots on. Just like when it comes to street shoes, snowboarding boots are capable of coming in a myriad of different widths, and so they fit different foot shapes in different ways. While you are wearing your typical snowboarding socks, you should try on a number of different pairs of snowboarding boots in order to determine what kind of snowboarding boots is going to best meet your needs. The boots that you choose should be relatively snug, and the front of your toes should just be barely brushing the front of the boot as you try it on.

Next what you are going to want to do is to lace them up properly. You should lace your snowboarding boots up tightly, and they should feel comfortable completely without any odd pressure points or hot spots. Your heel and your ankle should be completely held in place and they should be secure. There should be no front to back movement or lift at all if your boots are properly fitted and properly laced up.

Third, you are going to want to stand up and flex forward in order to determine that the boot that the snowboarding boots offer is appropriate for your needs. The boot offering the proper level of flex should be offering a little bit of resistance, but it should not be offering so much resistance that your movement is being prevented or restricted in any way.

Now, from a seated position you are going to want to raise your foot up, flexing your ankle like you are pushing down on the gas pedal of your car. If you cannot effectively do this, then your boot is too stiff. A boot that is too stiff is going to severely impede your personal progress on the slopes. If this is the case, you need to look for something that is softer.

Take a stroll around the rental shop or store to make sure that the snowboarding boot feels completely comfortable. If your day is going great but your boots are painful or fitting improperly, you could completely ruin your day. In other words, what you need to do is to take the time and put the effort forth to make sure that your boots are fitting properly for an all around good time. You will be glad that you put forth the effort when you have the best ride of your life.
