About the Resort:
Located just over the border from California in Incline Village, the Diamond Peak Ski Resort is a world-class facility that offers non-stop fun for skiers and snowboarders. They have gone to great lengths to make the place family friendly and there are plenty of activities to keep you busy. The sun decks are a great place to go after being out on the slopes and the free shuttle service makes this an economical place to stay and ski.
What You Need to Know:
There are currently 30 runs in operation, with some tree skiing allowed, as well as open areas. There are a total of 655 acres to ski here, and six lifts are in operation. Even though there are not a ton of lifts, we did not find that waiting was a problem here and everything runs quite smoothly. This is a true resort with high class lodging, great stores and terrific food.
The longest run is around 2.5 miles and there are some great opportunities here for both beginning and advanced skiers.
Tips for Beginners:
The children's ski school is renowned as being one of the best places for kids to learn the fundamentals of skiing. There is also a daily school for adults in both skiing and snowboarding. About 18% of the trails are suitable for adults, and there are some great areas to really get the feel for the technique here.
The lesson fees are reasonable and special packages are available as well. Out of all of the places to get instruction and still stay at a great resort, this has to be one of the best that we have come across. There is also a terrain park, which is a great place to try out the new techniques you've learned during your lessons, and it is very well suited for snowboarders and those looking to add a little more advanced techniques to their skiing or snowboarding repertoire.
