About the Resort:
Bear Mountain Ski Resort is sumptuously appointed, and it is a true skiers paradise. This resort is known for their terrain parks and snowboarders from all over the world flock here for a chance to experience the thrill. The entire resort stretches out over more than 1000 acres, and there are about 700 acres that are dedicated to trails. With more than 12 lifts, you’ll rarely have to wait long to get anywhere while you’re here.
The area gets about 100 inches of snowfall a year, so you’ll be able to enjoy the experience of skiing on natural snow instead of manufactured snow.
What You Need to Know:
This is a tough set of trails, but we found the staff to be very helpful and the facilities are incredibly well maintained. They do a great job of keeping the snow well groomed, and they do have snow machines on hand in case there is a bad year. However, more often than not, you’ll be dealing with real snow.
This resort offers some great opportunities for snowboarders, who are generally overlooked at many resorts. If you are into this sport, this is the place, bar none, to indulge your passion.
Tips for Beginners:
This is not a resort that is geared towards beginners. As of this writing, only 15% of their trails are intended for beginner use. Intermediate skiers are generally the market that this resort caters to, as well as snowboarders. However, the staff is very friendly and even though there are a limited amount of trails that are ideal for beginners, the lessons are very good here and there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun.
Special prices are available for beginners, and they include lift tickets as well as instruction packages. We highly recommend this if you are completely new to skiing.
